The EAIFR conference on volcanic processes "a variety of length and time scales" (University of Rwanda, Sept 1–5, 2025) brought together researchers and students from across the globe for a week of exciting scientific exchange.

Over five days, participants explored a wide range of topics including:

  • Multiphase volcanic flows and crystal-rich magmas

  • Magma pathways and subsurface propagation in rift systems

  • Seismic and deformation signals from active volcanoes

  • Volcanic emissions and dispersion,  hazard modelling, and forecasting

  • Volcanic lakes, with a focus on Lake Kivu and its societal challenges

  • Volcanoes & climate change linking eruptions to environmental and historical impacts.

  • Health & volcanoes ,including soils, air quality, and disease risks

The program blended keynote talks, research presentations, poster sessions, movies, open discussions and field visits fostering scientific dialogue and collaboration across disciplines.

We thank all the speakers,  participants, organizers  and partners for making this event a success!
