Following the conference held last September (1–5) in Rwanda, the paper From magma to macrophage: the grand challenges of volcanic environments has now been published. The article reflects the rich interdisciplinary discussions that took place, spanning volcanic processes, environmental and societal impacts, and highlighting the importance of advancing science in Africa.
